Ada Morris

Ada Marie McElvain Morris went home to be with her Savior on February 6, 2013 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Ada was born in Ramah, Colorado, El Paso County, to Grover Cleveland McElvain and Iona Mae Scott McElvain on May 4, 1925. She graduated from Alta Vista High School in 1943. Ada married her high school sweetheart, Weldon Morris on June 30, 1943. To this union were born three daughters. Ada and Weldon farmed and ranched south of Simla for many years of their lives together. Over the years they lived in Limon, Sterling, Arvada, Lakewood and Colorado Springs, Colorado. However, their hearts stayed true to their roots in Simla. Ada was a devoted wife and mother, enjoying her time with family, believing her job was to provide for and nurture them. Gardening, canning, sewing and cooking were a cherished part of her life. She accepted Christ as her Savior on Easter Sunday, April 22, 1962. She was a member of Simla First Baptist Church, Limon and Sterling First Baptist and Ward Road Baptist in Arvada, Colorado. Ada faithfully taught Sunday school, Vacation Bible School and served as Director. She served alongside her spouse while he was Deacon of these churches. Ada will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Weldon, her parents, four brothers; Wendell, Harvey, Harold and G.C. McElvain, Jr. and grandson; Gregory James Hamacher. She is survived by her daughters; Linda D. (Frank) McClatchey of Holts Summit Missouri, Barbara A. (Don) Valaer of Hotchkiss, Colorado and Diane E. (Gary) Hamacher of Falcon, Colorado. Ada is also survived by seven grandhchildren; Tammy Eitel, Terri Garmendia, David McClatchey, Laura Valaer (Brian Graves), Jon Valaer, Eric Hamacher and Christine (Clayton) Quillin. Additionally, she is survived by 10 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
