Alene was born March 11, 1930 to Floyd and Jennie Marcum in Lamar Colorado.
Alene grew up in Las Animas and graduated from Las Animas High School. She went to college in Greely Colorado and belonged to the Colorado A&M. After college, she taught at Helen Keller School in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
On June 3, 1951, Alene married Russ Davis in Las Animas Colorado. They moved to Burlington after their marriage and lived there until 2007. She and Russ moved to Montrose, Colorado in July 2007. They were married for 56 years before Russ’ passing in November 2007
Alene was very involved in the Methodist Church, Burlington Women’s Club, and her Bridge Club. She enjoyed spending time with family and her many dear friends. Alene was a world traveler going to many places including Bethlehem, Germany, Switzerland, Egypt, Russia and many more places. She was always a little witty and mischievous. Even though dementia robbed her mind, she continued to keep her sense of humor to the end.
Alene’s family is thankful to have had such a loving, caring, and beautiful influence that she surrounded them with. Alene is survived by her sister Sue (Don) Guthals of Longmont Colorado, sister-in-law Lucy Davis of Rapid City, South Dakota, son Mike (Mary Ann) Davis of Burlington Colorado, son Ken (Terri) Davis of Kiowa Colorado, daughter Jenny (Tom) Swanson of Montrose Colorado, four grandchildren Tess (Travis) Danner, Jacob (Celeste) Swanson, Leah (Zachary) Steinberg, Dylan Swanson, eight great grandchildren Emit, Kennedy, Laynie, Cassidy, Kylie, Isaiah, Breckin and Jemma, nephews Rod Guthals, Alan Guthals, Brian Davis, and niece Stacey Schmaltz. Alene was preceded in death by her parents Floyd and Jennie Marcum, her husband Russ Davis and her brother-in-law Stan Davis.
