Artie Vera Gaede of Limon, CO passed away September 21, 2005 in Colorado Springs, CO, just three days shy of her 93 birthday.
Artie was born September 24, 1912 to Joe and Chloe (Gee) Horsley in Emory, Texas one of five children. She attended school through the 8th grade in Emory, Texas.
Artie married Francis B. Gaede on December 24, 1930 in Clovis, New Mexico and to this union two children were born. Artie has lived in the Limon area since 1947 where she and her husband, Francis farmed and ranched.
Artie loved her family and friends very much which included her church family. She was an avid reader, china painter, President of the American Baptist Women, former member of the First Baptist Church and a current member of the First United Methodist Church of Limon.
Artie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, one brother, son; Charles and daughter; Bettye. She is survived by her daughter-in-law Gail Gaede of Limon, CO, sister; Johnnie Kimbrough of Muleshoe, TX, grandchildren; Pat Shutlz of Portola, CA, Peggy (Stewart) Kerr of Bluehill, NE, Pam Atkinson of Chester, CA, Beth Gaede of Limon, CO, Andy (Tara) Gaede of Limon, CO and Deb (Todd) Pieper of Gering, NE, nineteen great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Funeral services for Artie were held Monday, September 26, 2005 at the First United Methodist Church of Limon, CO at 10:00 a.m. with interment immediately following at Pershing Memorial Cemetery in Limon, CO.
