Barbara Schmeiser

January 25, 1935 — February 5, 2009

Barbara Joyce Schmeiser, age 74, of Hugo, Colorado, passed away February 5, 2009, at the Lincoln Community Hospital. Barbara was born January 25, 1935 to Mr.& Mrs. Bill Henry Schaffer on their family farm just outside of Simla, Colorado; Barbara was one of five children. Barbara married Al B. Taylor and to this union three children were born: Ivan, Gerald and Wayne. This marriage was later dissolved. Barbara met and married her second husband Estel Schmeiser September 6, 1983 and was married until his death in 2005. Barbara truly enjoyed the outdoors and even more the life of a rancher. She was very skilled in breaking and riding horses. This was her true passion, as Barbara and Al spent many hours enjoying this hobby. She was a talented artist and an avid gardener. Barbara was also deeply committed to her family, always being there for her children with their events and activities throughout their younger years. Barbara was no stranger to hard work; most of her life working two jobs. She was a great help to Estel on his farm. Preceding Barbara in death were her parents, her husband, Estel Schmeiser, one brother and three sisters. Barbara is survived by her first husband, Al B. Taylor, her children Ivan (Jill) Taylor of Denver, CO, Gerald (Kim) Taylor of Buffalo, Kansas, Wayne Taylor (Georgia Izgar) of Ramah, CO. Also surviving is one sister, Geraldine (Pete) of Los Animas, CO., as well as nine grandchildren, six great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held 2:00pm Tuesday February 10, 2009 at the Love Funeral Home Limon, Colorado.
