Bernice Kravig

Bernice Christina Kravig was born in Karval, Colorado on October 20, 1924 to Carl and Lela (Gresham) Sorensen. She went home to be with her Lord on July 8, 2015 at Crowley County Nursing Center in Ordway, Colorado. Bernice grew up and graduated from Karval High School in 1942. Bernice was united in marriage to Mahlon Kravig on April 1, 1944. They resided in Karval for the majority of their lives together. Bernice and Denice moved to La Junta in 1995, where Bernice lived until May of this year. The Karval community was important to Bernice. She was active as a 4-H leader, a member of ABC, secretary of the Karval Water Board, and she drove the school bus for 39 years. In 1994 she was awarded the “Colorado Bus Driver of the Year.” She was a loving devoted caregiver for her daughter, Denice for 38 years. Bernice was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Lela Sorensen, sisters Ethel Stogstill and Carolyn Whisman, daughter Denice, and her beloved husband Mahlon. She is survived by daughters; Luetta (Rick) Locke, Chris (Marty) Fleischacker; grandchildren, Jeff (Cheryl) Dutro, Michelle (D.J.) Jones, Rick Locke, Jr., and Tiffany (Mike) Mulligan; great-grandchildren; Matthew Dutro, Jon Dutro, Cameron Turmin, Kelli Turmin, Skyler Jones, Colby Jones, Makenzie Mulligan, Mandy Mulligan and Serenity Locke.
