Bernice Maloney

July 11, 1917 — December 19, 2015

Bernice Rhodna Geiken Maloney resident of Aspen Leaf Assisted Living Residence went to be with her Lord December 19, 2015, 8:30pm. She was born July 11, 1917 at a farm house north of Gothenburg, NE to Hillert and Ruth Vieter Geiken. She was the oldest of 3 children. Her sister Delores Ferdig of Murdo, SD and her brother Stanley Geiken of Seibert, CO, and a step-brother, Maurice Sheridan of Ft. Collins all preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughter Verda and husband Don Weaver, and son Gerald and wife Jo Maloney. She is survived by grandsons Kenneth, Kerry, and Kevin Maloney, 2 great grand children and 2 twin great, great grandchildren. She is also survived by sister–in–law Marvel Geiken and niece Marilynne Jones and her husband Ervin. She was also preceded in death by one great grandson Mike. She was married to Earl Maloney in 1937 in Lexington, NE. They resided in Nebraska mostly near North Platte. In 1943 they moved to a farm north of Seibert, CO. Upon retiring from farming, they moved to Flagler in 1983. They enjoyed some retirement years in Mission, TX each winter. Bernice was active in the Methodist Church in Seibert for many years. She will always be remembered for her quilting abilities at the Creighton Senior Center and actively attending the local churches of Flagler. After Earl’s death in October 1990, she had a number of years of active enjoyable years in her home in Flagler. In her last years in her home, she was assisted by a friend Georgia Klimack who lived there with her as a faithful caregiver. In July 2012 she moved to Aspen Leaf where she enjoyed wonderful days with friends and caregivers until her death at the age of 98 ½ years.
