Betty Mae Kennedy

January 14, 1927 — February 13, 2017

Betty Kennedy was born in Flagler, CO on January 14, 1927 to Oliver and Minnie Blancken. She departed this life on February 13, 2017 at the Lincoln Community Care Center in Hugo, CO. Betty grew up in Flagler, graduating from Flagler High School in 1944. After high school Betty attended business school in Denver. When she returned to Flagler, she was a bookkeeper for the family business, Blancken Implement Company. In 1946, Betty married Tom Kennedy. They had 3 children Diana, Kay, and Larry. Betty stayed at home and cared for the children while Tom was able to take over the family business, now called Flagler/Limon Farm Equipment. The whole family enjoyed many happy summers in Grand Lake swimming, boating, and water skiing. After Tom passed away in 1973, Betty worked as a secretary for Dr. Marx at the Centennial Mental Health Clinic in Flagler and Limon. Betty always enjoyed bowling, sewing, gardening, gambling, playing cards and cheering on the Denver Broncos & Nuggets. Betty has been at the Lincoln Community Care Center for the past three and a half years keeping busy with china painting, doing puzzles, and playing rummikub. Betty is survived by her daughters Diana Kennedy of Fowler, CO and Kay (David) Palmer of Loveland, CO along with 2 granddaughters Emily (Brad) Adams of Manzanola, CO and Allison Palmer of Loveland, CO, 1 great granddaughter Sara Adams of Manzanola, Colorado 2 great grandsons Jordan Paul & Daniel Adams of Manzanola, CO. She is preceded in death by her parents Oliver and Minnie Blancken, her husband Tom Kennedy, her son Larry Kennedy, and friend John Coryell.
