Husband, father, rancher, farmer, and Bronco fan extraordinaire, James William (Bill) Evans bravely fought cancer until the end—Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at his home in Idalia. His wife, Linda, and children Erin (Matt) Jacobs, Rich Evans and Melanie Evans and grand baby Alleen Jacobs are heartbroken by his leaving.
He was born in Trinidad, CO May 6, 1950 to Forest and Marcia (Sunday) Evans. As a hard working elementary student entrepreneur, he mowed lawns. In high school, he held before and after school jobs helping support his mom and sisters after his dad died.
He married the love of his life, Linda (Schuette) June 27, 1970. They settled and raised their three children in Elizabeth, CO. He owned his own construction company, and worked as a superintendent for two home builders, building homes for hundreds of families over the course of 15 years. He ended his corporate career working for two separate road sign companies, installing thousands of highway signs throughout Colorado— you most likely drove past one today.
He was an active member and board member of the Elizabeth Fire Protection District for over 25 years.
He and his bride moved to Idalia, in 2001, to follow his dream of working the land and raising cattle.
Stubborn, good-natured, and proud, Bill left an indelible mark on everyone he touched, most notably his loving family. The family is planning a celebration of life in early May 2021; details will be announced shortly. We will miss you, Pa.
