Bonnie Lee (Frazier) Stroup, 93, of Calhan, Colorado, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2025, in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Bonnie was born on March 24, 1931, in Haswell, Colorado, to Charles and Ruth (Beard) Frazier. She was the 6th of 11 children in the Frazier family. Bonnie’s family later moved to Peyton, Colorado, where she attended school through the eighth grade and spent her childhood working on the family farm alongside her siblings.
As a young adult, Bonnie moved to Colorado Springs and began working for the Timken Roller Bearing Company. In 1954, while traveling with a friend to South Dakota, she met William (Bill) Stroup. They were married on September 11, 1955, and to this union three sons were born. William Doyle in 1956, Myron in 1959 and Vance in 1961. The family moved to Burke, South Dakota, where they worked on Bill’s family farm for two years before returning to Peyton, Colorado, when Bill took a new job.
In 1958, the family moved to Hall Station in Rush, Colorado, where they worked on the Smith Ranch. Bonnie cherished this time, often referring to it as some of the hardest yet most rewarding days of their lives. In 1965, the family moved for the final time to Calhan, Colorado, where Bill began working for the Town of Calhan. Bonnie worked various jobs, including working for the Walter Drake family, working at the Bulldog Drive-In in Calhan, and as a custodian for Calhan Public Schools, from which she retired in June of 1996.
After retirement, Bonnie enjoyed traveling, embarking on new adventures, and attending various activities for her grandkids.
Bonnie is survived by her sons, William Doyle (Karen) Stroup of Calhan, CO, and Myron (Patti) Stroup of Sierra Vista, AZ; four grandchildren, Billy Ray (Tammy) Stroup of Montrose, CO, Jennifer (Dustin) Koester of Akron, CO, David (Lyndsay) Stroup of Albert Lea, MN, and William Ryan (Kayla) Stroup of Calhan, CO; and nine great-grandchildren, Gage Stroup, Brighton and Collins Koester, Evelyn, Jensen, and Jude Stroup, William Augustus and Colter Stroup, and Dakotah Lazor. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
