Charles Jaques

Charles Meldon Miles Jaques, 79, passed away on October 25, 2010 at the Lincoln Community Hospital in Hugo, Colorado with his loving wife at his side. Charles was born on April 09, 1931 in Shaw, Colorado to Peoble Norman and Lula (Deeds) Jaques being born into a large family. He attended first grade through the fifth grade at the Glen School in Shaw, Colorado then his family moved to Bovina, Colorado and Charles went to school there through the eighth grade graduating from Genoa High School in Genoa, Colorado. In 1952 Charles went in to the army and served two years. He went to Basic training at Fort Ord, California for four months. He was in the 6th Division first Calvary Regiment. He was then sent to Korea and fought on the front line in the Korean War, for eighteen months. Charles received many medals while in his service of his country. He received three purple stars, two cluster clove leaves, Cigamarie citation, Japanese occupation, three bars active, infantry combat badge. In 1955 Charles married Marilyn Rogers. To this union four boys were born; Larry Meldon, Jimmy Charles, Tony Miles and Mickey Dean Jaques. Charles moved his family to Gary, Colorado in 1956 where he worked for Charlie Bolinger and farmed. While there Charles felt the Lord’s call upon his heart, and that took them from Gary in 1965 to Cortez, Colorado where he was pastor of First Church of the Nazarene for four years and then to Limon, Colorado, Poplar, Montana and then to Wheatland, Wyoming. Due to ill health Charles retired from the ministry and moved to Colorado where he worked at the Flagler School for six years. Charles married Doris Sluder Hamilton July 08, 1989 in Arriba, Colorado and the couple together had six children. They made their home in Arriba, Colorado. He loved to sing and play the guitar; he enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping in the mountains. Charles really enjoyed his grandchildren, loved to watch old westerns and black and white movies. He was a carpenter and worked out in his garden and yard which brought him great pleasure. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Peoble and Lula, his siblings; Marland, Wilford, Merrell, Dale, Wilburn and Georgia Jaques and son Larry Jaques. He is survived by his wife Doris of Arriba, Colorado and their children; Jim Jaques of Laramie, Wyoming, Tony and his wife Dolly Jaques of Laramie, Wyoming, Mick and wife Bobby Jaques of Arriba, Colorado, stepchildren; Ron Hamilton of Cortez, Colorado and Debbie Cuckie of Cortez, Colorado. Charles is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, three surviving siblings; Darald, Derrell and Lorrain, nieces, nephews and many friends.
