Chris Eugene Clapper was born on September 9, 1961 and departed life on January 10, 2018 in a tragic farming accident. Chris was born in Burlington Colorado to Paul and Billie Clapper, and was the youngest of nine children. He grew up on the family farm east of Vona Colorado and graduated from Hi-Plains High School. Growing up he loved riding his Shetland Pony with his two brothers Jerry and Tim. He loved to play the game football. At a very early age Chris earned the nickname Gabby from a dear friend Stan Woller due to his talkative nature.
Chris spent all his life farming and ranching, working alongside his brothers and nephews. He brought a sense of humor to the workday and saw the good in every situation. He was briefly married to Kathy Busby and later married Jennifer Craig. His greatest joy in life was raising his two daughters Ericka and Jordan, and later-on his grandson Gabe. His passion was fishing with Gabe and telling a tall tale.
He is proceeded in death by his parents, his nephew Lance McAuley, cousin Justin Dicken, and his Great Nephew Kelton Archuleta. He is survived by his wife Jennifer Craig and daughters Ericka Sutherland and Jordan Craig, and grandson Gabe. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Terry (Glenna) Clapper, Chyrl (Ron) Statler, Paula Eaton, Jody (Jim) LiVecchi, Chuck (Leslie) Clapper, Penny (John) Spearing, Jerry (Val) Clapper, and Tim Clapper. He is also survived by his 24 nieces and nephews and 38 great- nieces and nephews. He lead a full and rich life and leaves behind many good friends.
