Dallas Docterman

View Video Tribute Dallas Ray Docterman, age 69 departed this life on April 17, 2007, at his home south of Simla, Colorado. Dallas was born November 22, 1937 to Leon and Myrtle (Marksberry) Docterman in Covington, KY, and grew up near West Union, OH. He graduated Valedictorian of his class in 1955 and attended the University of Dayton for a brief time. On September 29, 1962 he was married to Rose Mary (Denney) Docterman in Richmond, IN. The joy of their lives has been their two children, daughter, Tamrah Jo (Tim) Ortiz, son, Devon C. Docterman, and two grandsons, (Tamrah’s children) Morgan and Nathan. Dallas worked building construction installing heating/air conditioning and plumbing. His career took him from Ohio to Florida, Texas, California and finally Colorado where he has resided for nearly 40 years. He became a Master Plumber in 1973, establishing his own business, D&R Enterprises, in 1973. He installed plumbing/hot water heat in numerous new houses as well as repairs to existing ones, in a wide area from eastern Colorado to western Kansas. In 1969, Dallas became a Third Degree Mason and belonged to the Ramah Masonic Lodge #165 A.F. &A.M. He was a good speaker and gave lectures within the Lodge and performed the Masonic Funeral Service for several of his fellow brethren over the years. Dallas was preceded in death by his parents Leon and Myrtle Docterman, and two brothers Virgil Wayne Docterman and James Donald Docterman. Surviving Dallas is his wife Rose Mary of rural Simla, daughter Tamrah (Tim) Ortiz and children Morgan and Nathan, of Guffey, CO, son Devon Docterman of Cheyenne, WY, sister Mary Lou Grooms of Manchester, OH, brother Daryl Lee (Sharon) Docterman of Cincinnati, OH, sister-in-laws, Dell Barlow and Peg Rinehart of Logan OH, Sherry Craig of Allensville, OH, brothers-in-law Tom Denney of Kirkersville, OH and Virgil Denney of Westerville, OH, numerous nieces and nephew and a host of friends. Dallas was an honest man who believed that any job worth doing was worth doing right. He had a wonderful memory and his vast store of historical and general knowledge was a constant source of amazement to his family and friends. He enjoyed playing the guitar and singing and loved reading and memorizing poetry. He could spend hours reading encyclopedias, especially the older ones. Funeral services for Dallas will be held Monday, April 23, 2007 at 10:00 at the Big Sandy School Gymnasium with Jerry Allen officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 22, 2007 from 5-8 P.M. at the Love Funeral Home in Limon, CO.
