Dana Lynn (Hapes) Ball was born in Cheyenne Wells, Colorado on January 9, 1964. She was born to Nancy and Carl (Butch) Hapes. Dana attended and graduated Cheyenne Wells High School.
She married Russell Ball in December 1981 and had three children, daughters Tatum and Brittany, and son Cory.
Dana worked at the nursing home and the hospital before starting her own in home day care business which she ran for many years. When she became too ill to run the day care she went to work as the senior citizens coordinator at the center in Cheyenne Wells.
Dana was diagnosed with brain cancer in September of 1993, a disease which she fought valiantly for 18 years. She underwent 13 surgical procedures, two rounds of radiation, and a year and a half of chemotherapy.
Dana was preceded in death by her daughter, Tatum. She is survived by her daughter Brittany of Stratton, CO, son Cory of Cheyenne Wells and her parents Carl and Nancy Hapes of Cheyenne Wells. Her sisters, Melanie Hanavan and husband Chris, their daughters Jessica Hananvan, Hillary Ellis and husband Derek and their daughter Reagan, and son Trevor Hanavan, sister Shanda Carroll her husband Danny and son Truett, and her granddaughter Athena Grace Ball, her 97 year old grandmother, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
