David Marken

January 8, 1936 — June 3, 2015

David Gilbert Marken was born on January 8, 1936 in Keysor, Colorado, and passed from this life on June 3, 2015 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. David grew up in the Simla and Matheson communities and graduated from Simla High School in 1954. He married his high school friend and sweetheart Beverly Moore on October 2, 1955 in Simla, Colorado. To this union were born four children Bob (Jan) Marken, Opal (Roger) Rupp, Roy (Sue) Marken, and Carol (Neil) Spaulding. David was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and May (Cusic) Marken, and sister, Emma Forbes. He has one surviving sister, Hazel VanKamp of Phoenix, AZ. Many loved nieces, nephews, and brother and sister in-laws also survive him. David and Beverly lived in Colorado Springs for a short time early in their marriage, but spent the majority of their fifty-nine years of marriage in the Rush, Matheson, and Simla communities. Moore Farms was David’s work place for many years prior to he and Beverly venturing into their own business of custom harvesting in 1977. They successfully operated Marken Custom Harvesting through the year 2000, when they semi-retired and continued ranching and farming locally. His pride and joy of life was his family. He has seven grandchildren, Greg (Erin) Marken, Scott (Sarah) Marken, Melissa Rupp, David Rupp, Jennifer Marken, Calynne Marken, and Cheyenne Spaulding, and four great grandchildren Drew, Callie, and Ryan Marken, and Lillymae Heater.
