Dolores Kyle

Longtime Flagler Colorado resident, Dolores Sophia Kyle, age 85, passed away at Grace Manor Care Center in Burlington on January 13, 2012. Dolores was born to Henry and Olga (Flemming) Zielke on September 14, 1926, in Bird City Kansas, where she also attended school . In 1945 the family moved to a farm north of Flagler. Before Dolores was married she worked for Williams Pharmacy in Flagler while living in an apartment over Otteman’s Store. On July 17, 1955 at the Clapp Chapel in Flagler she married Thomas Loyal Kyle. They lived on the Kyle Family farm all their married life until health issues forced them to retire and move to Burlington. During her life, Dolores enjoyed being a member of Zion Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school and was also active in the woman’s group. She spent time quilting with the other women of the church, canning and gardening; she was a member of the Gingham Girls, and American Legion Auxillary. She was known for huge vegetable gardens, beautiful flowers, her famous dill pickles and the best fried chicken ever. She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant brother; five sister-in-laws, Mamie Huntzinger, Evelyn Taylor, Mildred Kuemmerlin, Lois Horseman, and Imogene Elrick; and brother -in-law, Alfred Meyer. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Tom of Burlington; brother, Arnold (Nona) Zielke of Lemmon, SD; sister, Lorena Meyer of Boulder, CO, sister-in-law Kay Daniel of Burlington, CO; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
