Donald Patton, Jr

Donald Kenneth (Kenny) Patton, Jr., age 68 of Hugo, Colorado passed away Thursday, September 6, 2012 at the Lincoln Community Nursing Home in Hugo, Colorado. Don was born July 29, 1944 in Denver, Colorado the son of Donald Kenneth Patton, Sr. and Juanita Alice (Andrews) Patton. He graduated from Lakewood High School in 1962. On February 12, 1965 in Denver, Colorado, Don was united in marriage to Betty Jean Sage. They shared over forty three years of marriage before Betty passed away on December 1, 2008. To this union they shared five children, Cindy, Tim, Dan, Mike and Jenny. Don spent over twenty years of his life working as a mail carrier in Genoa,Co. Don worked for Keebler in Denver as a bakery line foreman. In his later years, he did odds and ends as a handyman where he cleaned the Hugo Post Office and cared for the lawn at the Lincoln Community Hospital. Don’s work ethic was second to none and he could always be found working on something. He had a passion for working on various wood projects. Don loved to go camping and fishing with his family. They traveled many times to the Bonnie and John Martin Reservoirs. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and the Broncos with Betty and his children. In his early years, Don also enjoyed coaching his son’s little league baseball games. Most of all, Don loved being a grandfather and cherished all the time he got to spend with his children and grandchildren. His strong work ethic, his sense of humor and his love for his family will always be remembered. Don will be dearly missed and his character and his spirit will continue on in his family and friends lives forever… Don was preceded in death by his parents; Juanita and Don, his wife; Betty; and one brother; Timothy Patton. Donald is survived by his children; Cindy Hopka of Genoa, Colorado, Tim and wife Aimee and their children Sadie and Cheyanne (Hope) Patton of Genoa, Colorado, Dan and wife Jackie and their son Weston Patton of Montrose, Colorado, Mike and wife Candy and their children Destiny, Connor, Laci and Bristol Patton of Genoa, Colorado, and Jenny and husband Matt and their son Braylon Collier of Aberdeen, South Dakota; two brothers, Alan Patton (Carolyn) of Littleton, Colorado and Neal Patton of Denver, Colorado; three sisters, Joyce Presgrave (Bruce) of Golden, Colorado, Marsha Pietroiacovo (George) of Westminster, Colorado and Patricia Benson of Denver, Colorado. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
