Donald Sailer

Longtime Burlington, Colorado resident Donald Dean Sailer passed away on January 24, 2010 at the Kit Carson County Memorial Hospital in Burlington. He was 79 years old. Dean was born on March 7, 1930 in Pratt, Kansas to Charles and Mertie Marie(Lattimore) Sailer. He was one of four children. Dean attended school in Byers Kansas from 1936-1945. The family moved to Garden City, Kansas in 1945 where he then went to school until graduating in 1948. In 1951 Dean joined the Marine Corps and served in Korea until 1953. On May 6, 1966 Dean married Erma Margaret Schmidt in Colorado Springs, Colorado. To this union, a daughter, Charla was born. Dean was a barber in Burlington for many years. He also owned and operated Pheasant Flush north of Burlington. Dean’s pastimes included wood working, fishing and following his grandkids activities. He will always be remembered for his stories, and good natured teasing. Dean was preceded in death by his parents, one son Terry Fromong, a brother-in-law Dean Stewart and a sister-in-law Shirley Sailer. He is survived by his wife Erma of the home, son Brian Sailer of Longmont, CO and daughter Charla and her husband Stacy Jones of Seibert, Colorado and their two children Brandon and Brittany. He is also survived by one brother Wayne Sailer of Longmont, CO and two sisters Marge Stewart of Burlington and Vivian Jacober and her husband Jake of Denver, CO.
