Donna Krei

Donna K. Krei was born on November 29, 1938 in Cheyenne Wells, Colorado. She was the fourth and last child born to Russell D. and Ruth (Thyne) Spurlin. She passed away on September 19, 2011 at the Kit Carson County Memorial Hospital in Burlington. She attended Solid Center, St. Charles Academy and Stratton High Schools. She worked as a bookkeeper in the Denver area, San Francisco and southern California, and then back to the Denver area. In 1992, she married Robert D. Krei in Wichita, Kansas. She continued to work as a bookkeeper for 3 more years and then retired. She was preceded in death by her husband Bob in 2007, her father in 1967, mother in 1976, and brothers Robert in 1979, Duane “Shorty” in 2003, Shorty’s daughter Charlene in 1978, and an infant daughter Rebecca. She is also preceded in death by brother-in-laws Jack Krei in 1954, Bill Krei in 1996 and his wife Lee Ann Krei in 2009. She is survived by her daughter Carol Everett and her husband Chris, granddaughter Jessica and son Elijah, grandson Tanner Everett and his wife Jennifer and their children Emily, Kailey and Gavin, and grandson Charlie Everett and his wife Kim and her daughter Victoria. She is also survived by her sister Doris Stevens and her husband Dallas, brother-in-law Jim Krei and his wife Cindy, sister-in-laws Jeanette Spurlin, Dru Wood, Carolyn Hines and her husband Norm and Sherry Merritt and her husband Denny, 2 step daughters Sherri Whalen and Patricia Book, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Donna’s wish was to have her body donated to the University of Colorado, Denver Health and Science Center. After studies are completed, her ashes will be inurned in the Fairview Cemetery in Burlington.
