Donna Marie (Turner) Smith, 81, of Vona, Colorado, and a previous long-time resident of Conroe, Texas, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Monday, July 22nd, 2024. She was born September 7th, 1942, in Cleveland, Ohio. She was the fourth of seven children born to Earl and Esther Turner. She grew up in Memphis, Tennessee, attended Treadwell High School from 1st grade until 11th grade, and then graduated in Monroe, Louisiana.
Donna’s career with Kroger expanded 35+ years. She also was a reliable worker in the political election process in her local community. She enjoyed working alongside her sisters at her father’s pie shop over many holiday seasons. After her retirement, Donna enjoyed traveling with her siblings, playing board games with her family, and making quilts for others, and she became the family historian with her interest in her family’s genealogy.
Donna accepted the Lord when she was a teenager and became an active member of her church. She was the nurse that wasn’t a nurse, but one could never tell. Donna dedicated her life to her faith and her family. Donna had such pride when she spoke of her daughters, Tammy and Michele, and such joy when she talked about her grandchildren.
Donna is preceded in death by her parents, Esther and Earl Turner, her sisters Dorothy and Marilyn, and her brother, Donald.
Donna is survived by her daughter Tammy Smith of Fresno, Texas, her daughter Michele and Clint Hubbell of Stratton, CO, sisters Vinola Smith, Joanne Fordyce, and Evelyn Newman, grandchildren Autumn, Molly, Ella, Nash, many nieces/nephews and friends.
The family would like to thank all the staff, physicians, and nurses of Kit Carson Memorial Hospital, Health Essentials, and Rocky Mountain Cancer Center in Denver for the love and care Donna received. She considered all of you her friends.
Graveside services for Donna will be at the Vona Cemetery, Vona, Colorado, on July 27th, 2024, at 10:30 am. Donna’s final resting place will be at the Vona Cemetery in Vona, Colorado.
