Doris Lynn Piper was born in Temple, Texas on September 6, 1949 to Estie Marie and James Franklin Tomme. She graduated From Belton High School. In 1971, Doris met and married Larry Piper. To this union was born one son, Andy. Since Larry was in the army and serving in Vietnam, Doris became a military wife. She was the glue that held their home together at that difficult time. After his service was over, the Piper family moved to Limon in 1980 where Larry was an insurance agent. Doris was employed by GE Johnson Construction Company and then by Centennial Mental Health for 15 years as an office coordinator.
Doris loved to travel. She and her husband made several trips to Las Vegas, various places in Mexico, Egypt, Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam. She was always excited about having an adventure. Doriss greatest adventure began on December 9, 2009 when she passed away after an extended illness. She was 60 years old.
Doris was preceded in death by her father, James and her mother, Estie.
She is survived by her husband, Larry; her son, Andy (Phaedra); her grandson, Jacob; a sister, Joyce Stiliman (Tom) and her two children; a sister, Kelly Smith (Johnny) and her two children; and a brother, Bobby Tomme (Martha) and his two children. She will also be greatly missed by her many good friends who mourn her absence.
