Dorothy Violet Calkum, age 86 of Pueblo, Colorado passed away Friday, June 12, 2015 at Pueblo. Dorothy was born March 28, 1929 in Kyser, CO to Frank and Rena (Smith) Hamlin. She was one of seven children born of this union.
Dorothy graduated from Simla High School in 1947. Following graduation, she married her high school sweet heart, Hubert William Calkum, on August 24, 1947 in Matheson, CO. To this union they were was blessed with three children; Colleen, Catherine and William.
The couple made their home in New Mexico for 30 years as Hubert worked at White Sands Missile Range before retiring in 1983 to Pueblo.
Dorothy was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church in Pueblo. She loved traveling with family across the US and Hawaii. Dorothy always enjoyed the spring and summer, especially working in her flower and vegetable gardens as well as making jams and jellies.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two son-in-laws Ernest Rancher and James White; grandson Eric; three brothers; and three sisters.
Dorothy is survived by her children; Colleen Rancher, Catherine White, and William Calkum all of Pueblo, CO. Also surviving are five grandchildren; Veronica, Valarie, Valonda, William, and Sharline; twelve great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
