Dr. Larry Williams

July 30, 1939 — June 2, 2012

Dr. Larry Williams, second of four siblings, was born July 30, 1939 to Anna and Vernon Williams of Arapahoe, Colorado. He attended elementary and high school at Arapahoe Consolidated School District. Larry married Jacqueline Aldrich, also of Arapahoe, February 1960. To this union, two sons were born, Larry Jack Williams of Denver, Colorado and Chadwick Vernon Ray Williams of Vienna, Austria. Larry’s love of athletics perpetuated his completion of a Bachelors degree from Western State in history and physical education. He coached high school football, basketball and taught history at Bethune High School and Eads High School. Larry later returned to college in pursuit of a doctor of optometry degree at Pacific University, Forest Grove, Oregon, a suburb of Portland. Upon completion of his doctorate, he and family moved to Burlington where Larry joined the practice of Dr. Ben Jones. This professional experience grew into a successful partnership and long time friendship. Larry became involved in Burlington’s Men’s Golf League, Rotary Club, state and national Optometric Associations, continued with hunting interests, and nurtured his forever interest in agriculture of the Eastern Plains. Larry is survived by his two sons, aforementioned, sister Connie and brother-in-law Ray Seib, Hoisington, Kansas and their son Brad and family and daughter Heather and family; sister Janice Mitchell of Castle Rock and her son Brian and family and her daughter Kristi and family; and the sons of Dr. Darrell Williams, Larry’s deceased brother, Brett and Tim Williams and their families. Larry is also survived by his aunts, Margie, Billy, Bev and numerous cousins. In addition to Larry’s sisters and brother-in-law being Honorary Pallbearers, John Buol, Traci and Troy Hinkhouse, close friends, will assist as Honorary Pallbearers, also. Larry and his family greatly enjoyed the Burlington Community and the sincerity of the people. Heartfelt thanks to all, and in closing, Larry would say, “Give every day your best; peace, joy to all.”
