Eleanor Montgomery

Eleanor Jean (Dugan) Montgomery was born on September 27, 1924 to John and Bertha Dugan at their home in Littleton, CO. She passed away on June 20, 2006 at her home in Deer Trail, CO. After attending elementary in a country school she finished her education at Deer Trail High School in 1942. She then went to work at the Federal building in Denver as a secretary. Eleanor married Ted Montgomery on November 29, 1947 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Deer Trail, CO. The couple was blessed with two daughters; Betty Jean and Diane Kay. The couple raised their family in Deer Trail and celebrated their 58th anniversary in November. Eleanor was very active in the community. She was a member of Alter and Rosary Society, Legion Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary, Golden Age & Old Timers. She was also the Girl State Chairman for the Auxiliary. Eleanor thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her family especially the grandkids and great-grandkids who loved her cookies. Eleanor was the oldest of six children. She is preceded in death by her father; John and mother; Bertha, brother; John and two sisters; Anna and Pat. Eleanor is survived by her husband, Ted Montgomery of Deer Trail, CO, one brother; Tom (Betty) Dugan of Bayfield, CO, and sister; Mary Saltzman of Greeley, CO, brother-in-law; Harold Montgomery of Greeley, CO and sister-in-law; Elva Dugan of Greeley, CO, daughters; Betty (Chuck) Haight of Deer Trail, CO and Diane (Jim) Craven of Agate, CO, five grandchildren; Cliff (Becky) Haight, Richard (Tara) Haight, Ralph (Monica) Haight, Jason Craven and Jena (Justin) Faulkner and seven great-grandchildren. The Mass of Christian burial was held Friday, June 23, 2006, at 10:30 A.M. with a Rosary at 7:00 P.M., Thursday, June 22, 2006, at Our Lady of the Plains Catholic Church in Byers, CO. Interment will be held at the Evergreen Cemetery in Deer Trail, CO. Memorials may be made to Deer Trail Ambulance Fund P.O.
