Eleanor Palotay

Eleanore Helen Palotay, 93, of Limon, CO passed away on October 27, 2006 in Hugo, CO. Eleanore was born on July 27, 1913 in Milwaukee, WI to Joseph and Anna (Klimek) Sonnenberg one of six children. Eleanore worked for the telephone company in Kansas City and worked as an apprentice accountant for Knox Company in Kansas City. She later moved to Los Angeles, CA to work for the Knox Company and that is where she met Francis Palotay in the Catholic Youth Organization Eleanore married Francis on January 28, 1939 in Los Angeles, CA and to this union four children were born. The couple raised their family in California and after Francis passed away in 1956 Eleanore moved to Limon to be near family. Eleanore was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Limon and was active in Sigma Phi Gamma Sorority. She loved to crochet, knit, sew and loved to read. Eleanore was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother; Ray and one sister; Alice Bender and one infant brother and infant sister. Eleanore is survived by her children; Joseph Palotay of Sterling, CO, Mary Ann and husband Kenneth Dueppen of Woodland Hills, CA Ray and his wife Mary Ann Palotay of Turner, OR, Paula Palotay of Denver, CO. She is also survived by eight grandchildren John Dueppen, Brian Dueppen, Stephen Dueppen, Anne Marie Dueppen, Timothy Dueppen, Matthew Dueppen, Jason Fillinger-Palotay and Joshua Palotay and great-grandchildren; Hannah Fillinger-Palotay, Ryan Fillinger-Palotay, Nathan Fillinger-Palotay and Luke Palotay. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, November 2, 2006 at 10:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Limon, CO with Father George Fagan officiating. Rosary will be recited on Wednesday, November 1, 2006 at 4:00 P.M. at the Love Funeral Home Chapel in Limon, CO.
