Emily Florence Rictor Coryell passed away on February 19, 2007 in Hugo, Colorado. Emily was born to Clyde and Hattie Rictor on March 17, 1916 in Scott City, Kansas. She was the youngest of seven children. She attended school in Scott City, Kansas and graduated in 1934. Emily and William Burr Coryell were united in married on October 16, 1934 in Russell Springs, Kansas. Two children were born to this union. During their early marriage, Emily and Bill had a trucking company in Western Kansas. In 1943, they moved to Flagler. Emily and Bill, along with Bill’s brother Delbert and his family, farmed and ranched. Bill and Emily became active business people in the Flagler community. Emily’s first priority was her family. She is remembered as a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandma, and relative. Emily was an active member of the Church of Christ of Flagler, where she celebrated her 90th birthday last year. She was also an active member of the Flagler Senior Center. She made many deeply rooted friendships that she leaves behind. She loved the outdoors, especially fishing and working in her beautiful flower garden that was enjoyed by many. She also enjoyed reading, doing word puzzles, and even learned sudoku. During the last years of her life, she lived with her daughter and son-in-law, giving her two great-granddaughters the fortune of spending a lot of time with their “grandma Emmy�. Emily was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, two brothers, her husband Bill, and son William Dale. She is survived by her daughter Kay and husband Marion Heger of Flagler; two grandsons, Wayne and wife Dana of Fort Collins, and Cody and wife Christine of Las Vegas; and two great-granddaughters, Carlee of Fort Collins and Micaela of Las Vegas. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. A funeral service will be held Friday, 10:30 a.m., February 23, 2007 at the Church of Christ in Flagler, CO with visitation held prior to service.
