Esther A. Young

Esther Arlene (Richards) Young was born October 26, 1934 in Bethune, CO to Dave and Amanda (Adolf) Richards. She passed away on January 27, 2021 at the Kit Carson Memorial Hospital. She was 86 years old. She was one of four children and attended school in Bethune where she graduated in 1952. On July 9, 1952, Esther married Bob Young, her high school sweetheart. To this union two children were born: Gail and Sheila. Esther spent many years cleaning houses and working at the Sloan’s motel in Burlington. She and Bob loved to travel and went many places over the years. They also enjoyed square dancing. In her later years, she loved to volunteer and play cards on Friday nights. One of her passions was entertaining her family and friends. The more, the merrier and everyone was always welcome. There were many gatherings held in the family’s garage over the years. She loved wrestling and attending Craig and Amanda’s sporting events, especially Craig’s state football game and Amanda’s state track meets. She was preceded in death by her husband Bob, her parents, daughter Gail and sister Donna Kay. Esther is survived by her sister Mary and husband Fred, brother Duaine and wife Ardith, daughter Sheila Johnson and husband Dave of Holyoke. She is also survived by her two grandchildren Craig and wife Denise of Parker and Amanda of Holyoke and five great grandsons, Brody, Taj, Gavin, Ethan and Rowan and many nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to the First St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Esther's memory and may be left at or sent to Love Funeral Home, 377 15th Street, Burlington, Colorado 80807.
