Etta Jenkins

March 2, 1936 — June 27, 2016

Etta Louise (Corum) Jenkins age 80 of Ordway, Colorado passed away Monday June 27, 2016 at her home in Ordway, Colorado. She was born March 2, 1936 in Colorado Springs, Colorado, the daughter of Vern Ivan and Evelyn (Bloomfield) Corum. She attended Crowley County High School in Ordway and graduated in 1953. Etta married Paul Robert Jenkins on January 16, 1955 at the Kendrick Bible Church in Rush, Colorado. They shared over sixty-one years of marriage and were blessed to have raised three children on the Jenkins Ranch. Etta was raised in the house where she also raised her children. Etta became a member of the Kendrick Bible Church when she was a little girl. She enjoyed old country and western music and played in a band with some of her family and friends. Etta was proud of being a rancher’s wife and mother where she took much pride in cooking and doing the daily chores. She found peace and love with the land and the ranch which provided for her family and her home cooked meals were always cherished, especially during the holidays. She loved how everybody was very closely bonded in these small rural ranching communities and how they all supported one another. Etta’s love and spirit will live on in the daily lives of everybody she touched, forever… She is preceded in death by both her parents, Vern Ivan and Evelyn Louise Corum. Etta is survived by her loving husband Paul of the home, their children; Joleen Kay Jenkins (Justin Grady) of Elizabeth, Colorado, Delbert Lee Jenkins (Donna) of Ordway, Colorado and James Robert Jenkins (Janet) of Aurora, Colorado one sister; Shirley Wright (Lawrence) of Manzanola, Colorado, seven grandchildren; Jami Mattson, Brianne Mattson, Dayna Jenkins (Matt Buffington), January Stout (Tyler), Dawn Landry (Nathan), Janelle Compagnone (Curt), Carlton Ames (Nancy) and Dustin Jenkins along with several nieces and nephews.
