Eugene Linnebur

Linnebur, Eugene “Gene” Leonard, 84, passed away November 23, 2011, at his home, on the family farm in Byers, Colorado. Gene was born on December 15, 1926, in Goddard, Kansas to Ben and Lona (Apolnia Elpers) Linnebur. He was the last surviving sibling of his 5 brothers; Alf, Jim, Emmett, Lloyd, and Marvin and 1 sister Delores Pelz. On August 26, 1950, he married Shirley Marie Schick and was blessed with 7 children. He farmed in eastern Colorado all his life and held fast to his belief in the Roman Catholic Latin Tridentine Mass. He is survived by his wife Shirley, 4 sons; Jerry (Sharon), Danny (Roxie), Bobby and Edward, 2 daughters, Linda (Kenny McDonald), Donna (Jerry Sauer), 23 grandchildren; and 27 great grandchildren. Gene was preceded in death by his daughter Gail (Steve Ludwig), granddaughter Megan Linnebur and great grandson Samuel Linnebur.
