Floyd Weatherly

Floyd Parker Weatherly age 80 of Flagler, Colorado passed away on April 30, 2014. Floyd was born March 30, 1934 in Little Rock, Arkansas to Parker and Lena Weatherly. At a very young age they moved to a farm north of Flagler, with his parent’s twin brother Lloyd and older brother Duane. A few years later he had another brother Jim. He attended a one room school called Victory Heights until 8th grade when they moved to Flagler. His senior year he got another brother Douglas. He graduated high school from the Flagler school. During his young childhood years he was in White Plains 4-H club and had dairy calves. In high school he excelled in basketball and football. He got the nick name of Flash for being so quick. Floyd was baptized and joined the Baptist Church in Flagler at a young age. After graduation he went into the oil fields for a couple years when he also rode bareback saddle broncs, then went into the Army for 2 years. While in the Army he went to Fort Hood Texas for training then was sent to Germany for the 2 years. When he was discharged from the Army he came back to Flagler and went to work for Elmer Kieger. In 1959 he met and married Francis Edwards on August 9, 1959. They made their home in and around Flagler for a few years, they then moved to Limon, Colorado where he worked at the Husky Service Station and The Texaco service station. He took over the Texaco station in Limon and then moved to Burlington, Co in 1969 to run and manage the new Texaco there. From their marriage they were blessed with 3 children Timothy, Penny and Linda. In 1981 Floyd moved back to Flagler with Francis and Linda where he went to work at the Co-op service station. He then went to work for Kit Carson County as a maintainer driver. He then went to work at the Corman sale barn in Burlington, Co. and worked there for four years then he went to work in Limon at the Flying J truck stop for 13 years when he retired in 2007. He enjoyed raising and selling cattle, he always enjoyed his baby calves. For a few years after moving back to Flagler he had a dog kennel he really loved his animals. After retiring Floyd enjoyed gardening and keeping up his property. He went to work at the Flagler Landfill part time he enjoyed seeing and visiting with friends. He really enjoyed watching the Denver Broncos, the PBR and Westerns Floyd was proceeded in death by his parents Parker and Lena Weatherly, his brother Jim Weatherly, his son Timothy Weatherly his grandson Scott Dwight Soloman and sister-in-law Mary Weatherly. He is survived by his wife Francis, his two daughters, Penny Nagel and husband Roger of Colorado Springs Colorado; Linda Moreen and her husband Lloyd of Whitehall, Michigan; his grandsons, Shawn Yarian, Shelby Soloman, Chance Moreen, and Jay Weatherly; two granddaughters Lynnann Babbit, Destiny Moreen and two great granddaughters Aryn Davis and Shelby Babbitt. Floyd is also survived by his brothers Lloyd Weatherly of Denver, Colorado, Duane Weatherly and wife Jean of Arvada, Colorado, Doug Weatherly and wife Marilyn of Bolivar, Missouri and a host of nieces and nephews.
