Georgia Ellen (Morris) Woolsey age 96 passed away March 6, 2024. She was born south of Ramah Colorado on Berridge Rd. on January 26, 1928 to Nora E. Burnett and George W. Morris. Georgia went to school in Alta Vista and later graduated from Ramah after her father passed away. She was a very accomplished retail sales clerk starting at the Boston Store, Alexander Film Company and the Drug store in the Bus depot in downtown Colorado Springs when she was in high school.
She was an outstanding athlete with basketball being her favorite sport. She was All County all four years in high school and she got to play basketball on the same team as her sister Hazel.
Georgia later worked in the Karl’s Shoe store in Colorado Springs and in Kansas City. She was a most valued employee at the Woolsey’s Food Center in Calhan where she worked with her husband Byrel as a cashier. She made so many friends there who instantly liked her because of her caring heart and listening ear.
She loved her church, Living Word Community Church where she served faithfully and was loved by so many that she influenced. She was a devoted born again Christian and loved the Lord Jesus.
She was a member of many ladies groups in Calhan and enjoyed lots of fun times with her friends.
Georgia will be missed very much by her family and friends and we will see her again when we all get to heaven.
Georgia was preceded in death by her parents, George and Nora Morris, her husband Byrel, four Grandsons: Joshua Adam Cofer, Michael O’Connor, Levi Schubmehl, and Christopher Carneal. Siblings: Hazel Green, Kenneth Morris and Vernon Morris. Also preceded in death by her husband Howard E. Cofer and to that union was born: Rick (Cheryl) Cofer, Karla West, Shelly Schubmehl, Sherry (late husband Joseph) O’Connor , and Lisa (Joe) Rico. Georgia later married Byrel Woolsey on July 1, 1967 and they welcomed David (Linda) Woolsey, Bonnie (late husband Albert), Gwen (Randy) Sanger.
Georgia enjoyed 13 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren. She loved all her family and she will be missed by all.
Funeral Service will be held Saturday, March 16th with the viewing at 9:00 AM and the funeral service at 10:00 AM at the Living Word Church in Calhan, CO Interment at the Calhan Cemetery, Calhan, CO following the service.

A luncheon will follow the interment at the Living Word Community Church.
