Glen L. Ewing, age 99, of Genoa, Colorado passed away peacefully December 31st, 2022 surrounded by family at Lincoln Community Hospital in Hugo, Colorado. Glen was born November 10th, 1923 to Everett and Mabel (Swearingen) Ewing in Yuma, Colorado. He was the 6th of 7 children. His mother passed in 1940 and stepmother Edythe joined the family in 1941.
Glen attended high school in Genoa, Graduating in 1942. He attended Colorado State University, majoring in engineering, but had to return home to help on the farm before graduating. While hitchhiking home, he drove a truck while the owner/driver slept. From this time until his death, he proudly was a farmer, true and true.
On September 12th, 1945 he married the love of his life, Bettie Marie Andersen. To this union two children were added, Gloria and Wayne. Then made their home at the original Ewing home north of Genoa. Glen was a member of the Evangelical United Brethren Church, which consolidated later with the Methodist to make the United Methodist Church. To this he was a faithful member and trustee. A special time of his life was playing baseball. He said that he should have played 2nd base, but always played 3rd instead. Playing horseshoes with family and at tournaments was always enjoyed. Later in life he enjoyed golf. He especially enjoyed league golf partnering with Wayne and Luke. His passion though was farming, and farming with his brother made his life even better. They did add land to their operation when possible, but both considered improving the production a priority.
Besides farming and sports, Glen loved children, and even more, took delight in his great grandchildren and his new, great, great granddaughter which he said “Makes me double great.” He enjoyed his trips with Bettie to all the 50 states.
He is preceded in death by all his parents, all his siblings, his wife and grandson Mathew Eugene.
