Henry J. “Hank� Smith Jr. passed away January 7, 2006 at the Simla Good Samaritan Care Center in Simla, CO. Hank was born on May 3, 1918 in Agate, Colorado to Henry J. and Goldie (Jones) Smith Sr. one of three children. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Simla, CO where he was a deacon. Hank attended school through the 8th grade at the country school on West Bijou Creek. He married Ann Beuck on August 16, 1942 in Denver, CO and to this union two children were born. Hank enjoyed ranching especially cows and horses. He was a member of the Elbert-Douglas County Livestock Association, a member of Farm Bureau, and a past member of the Colorado Cattle Men’s Association. Hank was one of the founders of the Colorado Cowboy Camp Meeting, and Secretary of Ranchman’s Camp Meeting Assn. in the Southwest. Hank was preceded in death by his parents and his wife; Ann. Hank is survived by his son; Hank and his wife Donna Smith of Ramah, CO and daughter; Sherry and husband John Metli of Ramah, CO, sisters; Minni Coonts of Limon, CO, June Atkins of Wilmington, DE; and two grandchildren; Hank and his wife Maranda Smith and their son Carson of Simla, CO, Randy his wife Donna Marie Smith and their son Bryce of College Station, TX. Funeral services for Hank will be held Wednesday, January 11, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. at the Exhibit Building at the Elbert County Fairgrounds in Kiowa, CO with Pastor Carlton Cockey and Pastor Gary Gray officiating. Private Burial was held at the Smith Family Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Simla Good Samaritan Care Center P.O.
