Lifelong Stratton, Colorado resident Herschel Walter Hooper passed away on September 11, 2006 at the Sable Care Center in Aurora, Colorado. He was 88 years old.
Herschel was born in Stratton, Colorado on July 24, 1918 to Walter A. and Lula M. (Wheeler) Hooper. He was one of three children.
Herschel served several years in the Army during WWII. After returning from the war, he farmed for most of the rest of his life. One of Herschelâs favorite hobbies was to draw.
Herschel was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
He is survived by a sister-in-law Gladys Hooper, niece Barbara Bilyard, nephews Ron Hooper and Don Hooper and one great niece Jamie Boss. He is also survived by numerous other nieces and nephews.
Graveside services for Mr. Hooper were held on Thursday, September 14, 2006 at 11:00 AM at the Claremont Cemetery in Stratton with Pastor Dustin Sells officiating. There was no visitation.
