Iola Mattics

Biography Iola M. Mattics, 82, of Cheyenne Wells, Colorado passed away on January 05, 2011. Iola was born on October 14, 1928 in Hugo, Colorado to Stanley and Arizona (Shouse) Hartelroad. She was the eldest of six girls. Iola and her husband, Robert Mattics, were married 65 years and the couple was blessed with three children; Joyce, Dennis and Larry. Iola loved to garden raising vegetables and canning the fruit of her labor. She liked to paint watercolors and oils and enjoyed crocheting. She also liked to work with animals and enjoyed raising chickens and dogs and exotic birds. She liked collecting things going to estate sales and auctions. Iola was preceded in death by her parents her husband, Robert and three sisters; Neva, Darlene and Alice Belle. Iola is survived by her children; Joyce Thomas of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Dennis and his wife Elizabeth Mattics of Kit Carson, Colorado and Larry and Margaret Rooney of Colorado Springs, Colorado. She is also survived by siblings; Erma Elliott of Karval, Colorado and Jesse Lee Norsen of Longmont, Colorado along 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
