Jack Swennes, a man of many passions and pursuits, passed away on August 24, 2023, at the age of 82. Born in Colorado Springs on June 13, 1941, to Marguerite and John Swennes, Jack's remarkable journey touched the lives of many. Growing up in Hugo, Colorado, he attended Hugo High School before earning a degree in Industrial Arts from Colorado State University. On July 28, 1963, he married Jacqualee (Jackie Williams), with whom he shared 60 beautiful years and raised three sons: Heath, Dane, and Bret.
Jack's life was a tapestry of professions, including ranching, farming, teaching, aerospace, bus driver, and postal service. His heart lay in farming and ranching, where he dedicated his years while also contributing to the Matheson community as a school bus driver and postman. His diverse interests ranged from cars to bird watching, from fishing to natural resources and conservation, and from boating to traveling. As President and board member of the Double EL Conservation District and member of the Colorado State Conservation Board, he left an enduring mark after serving many years.
Jack's legacy thrives through his wife, Jackie, and his three sons and their families: Heath (Karie) of Sterling, Colorado; Dane (Brandy) of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and Bret (Sammi) of Falcon, Colorado. He is also survived by his seven grandchildren and one great grandchild: Taylor (Brittany) Swennes of St. David, AZ; Zachery Swennes (Carley Clegg) of Kremmling, CO; Allie Swennes of Sterling, CO; Hayden Swennes (Charlene) and great-grandchild, Brenden Swennes of Sterling, CO; Willie Swennes of Falcon, CO; J. T. Swennes of Falcon, CO; and Morgan Swennes of Falcon, CO. Jack's siblings include his sister Carol Schinkel of Fort Collins, CO, and his sister Janet (Bruce) Andersen of Meade, CO, all who will continue to carry his memory.
Jack joins his parents, Marguerite and John Swennes, and his grandparents, Henry and Margaret Boetger, and Katherine and Ingwald Swennes, in the embrace of eternal peace. As we bid farewell, we remember Jack's remarkable life, his enduring impact, and the countless lives he touched with his unwavering spirit and diverse interests.
