Janice Whittiker

View Video Tribute Janice Lorraine Whittiker, age 77, of Arriba, Colorado passed away July 4, 2009 in Colorado Springs, CO. Janice was born June 2, 1932 in Bovina, CO to Harry Richard and Lena Louise (Klatt) Burge. She was one of five children. Janice graduated from Arriba High School in 1950. On October 12, 1952 she married Stanley Dale Whittiker in Arriba, Colorado. To this union four children were born. The couple made their home farming and ranching in the Arriba area. Janice was a member of the Arriba First Congregational Church where she was involved as a Sunday School Teacher and Sunday School Superintendent for many years. She served on the town board for two terms, and was an election judge for Lincoln County. She was also a member of the Parent Teacher Association. Janice enjoyed gardening, crafts and needlework. She handcrafted Christmas stockings for her entire family. Janice was very involved in her children and grandchildren’s lives, as she never missed their many school and sporting events. Janice is preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, Phyllis Gibbs and Louise Chiles. Janice is survived by her son Richard Whittiker and son Cameron Whittiker of Flagler, CO; daughters Wendy and husband Terry Pottorff and children Chris Jones and his wife Maranda and son Teague Jones of Calhan, CO, Kyle Pottorff of Limon, CO, Kelly Pottorff of Limon, CO and Kirk Pottorff of Limon, CO, Joni and husband Doug Copley and their son Marshal Copley of Sterling, CO and Lori and husband Jim McCoin and children Cori McCoin and Kellen McCoin of Calhan, CO; a brother Doug and wife Eunice Burge of Arriba, CO; and a sister Harriet James of Yuma, AZ. Also surviving are nine great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. A funeral service for Janice Lorraine Whittiker will be held Thursday ~ July 9, 2009 ~ 11:00 A.M. at the Arriba Congregational Church ~ Arriba, Colorado Visitation will be held Wednesday ~ July 8, 2009 from 1:00 - 4:00 P.M. at the Love Funeral Home Limon, Colorado.
