Obituary for Jeffrey Vernon Swim
May 15, 1968 – December 1, 2024
Jeffrey Vernon Swim, 56, of Deer Trail, Colorado, passed on December 1, 2024. Born on May 15, 1968, in Great Bend, Kansas, Jeff moved to Colorado with his family in 1973. He graduated from Byers High School in 1986 and enlisted in the U.S. Army the day after graduation, serving his country with honor for three years.
Jeff’s life was defined by his dedication to family, community, and the joy of helping others. He served on the Byers Recreation District Board and the Byers School Board, where his leadership and care for his community shone brightly. A proud member of the Deer Trail Elks Lodge and the Masonic Lodge, Jeff was always eager to contribute his time and energy to local causes, particularly those that uplifted others.
Jeff had a deep love of music, playing the drums in the band Strike Three, and was well-known for his rhythm and energy on stage. His passion for sports was equally profound, as he coached youth wrestling and football, inspiring the next generation of athletes with his encouragement and expertise.
In 1999, Jeff partnered with his parents, Mary Louise and Bobby Lynn Swim, to establish Swim Disposal Service, a family business that continues to serve the community with the same commitment and pride Jeff brought to everything he did.
Jeff is survived by his wife Toni Trupiano-Swim; his cherished sons, Mathew Stephen Swim (companion Danielle Kephart), Philip Jeffrey Swim (companion Stephanie Crouch), and Wryle Vernon Swim (companion Grace Ann Kelly); his treasured grandchildren, Caelan, Presley, and Ryan; his loving parents, Mary Louise and Bobby Lynn Swim; his devoted siblings, Kathy Walz (Greg Walz), Julie Swim, Nancy Lee Pritchard, Sandra Edwards (Jamie Edwards), Eric Swim, and Warren Brooks (Roben Brooks); along with several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Kenneth and Mary Van Aken, and Vernon Arnold and Savilla Swim.
Jeff will forever be remembered for his kind heart, infectious laughter, strong work ethic, and unwavering commitment to his community and loved ones. His legacy will continue to inspire all who knew him.
A celebration of Jeff’s life will honor his remarkable contributions to his family and community.
Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Deer Trail and Byers First Responders.
Rest in peace, Jeff—you will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
