Jess was born on August 21,1968, in Denver where his mom, Kay, lived at home and his dad was in Vietnam.
A year later J.D. finished his enlistment in the U.S. Navy and they returned to Colorado and lived in the Wheat Ridge and Arvada areas.
Jess rode horses and played sports through middle school, and in high school the family moved to the mountains, where he learned the fine arts of hunting, fishing, trapping and mechanics from his Uncles, Deak and Bill.
In 1987, he graduated from Clear Creek High School in Idaho Springs. Along with a few entrepreneurial adventures, he worked for Burlington Northern and lastly at Denver Transit Partner as a signal maintainer.
He married Theresa Middlemist in 1999, and their son Sam was born in 1998. He also has three children from a previous marriage: Kaitlyn, Boone and Haley.
Jess never lost his love of the outdoors and old cars, never met an old car he didn't want! Starting with Old Yeller, a 1950 Ford pickup retired honey dipper he drove to high school. In his senior year he replaced it with a 1970 Pontiac Le Mans convertible. Over the years he had a 68 Firebird, a 63 Cadillac convertible minus the seats, an 80 Pontiac Trans Am, a 68 Chevelle from his buddy Kerby, and his latest purchase was a 1974 Lincoln Continental, which he reportedly got a great deal on! I think Sam drove it today in honor of him.
Jess passed away on Sunday October 22, 2017. He is survived by his four children, his wife, his parents, his brother Mike (Julie) and family.
God speed Jess, rest in peace.
