Joan Elaine McElwain, 69, of Parker, Colorado went home to be with her Lord and Savior January 5, 2014 with her family at her side. Joan was born March 17, 1944 in St. Francis, Kansas to Robert C. and Lillian J. (Levine) Parmer. She was one of four children. Joan grew up in the Limon area attending Limon Public School. Joan married Wilber Leon McElwain on June 10th, 1959 in Casper, Wyoming. The couple was blessed with three children. She loved being a wife and mother and dedicated her time and talents to her family. She belonged to the Red Hat Society, Douglas County Republican Women’s Club, Parker Newcomer’s Club, and collected clothing for the clothing ministry at church. Joan was devoted to her Lord and Savior, and a member of the Baptist Church. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Joan was preceded in death by her mother, Lillian, husband, Leon and sister, Barbara Sykes. She is survived by her children; Michael and Brooks McElwain of Alexandria, VA, Kelli and Peter Hayes of Aurora, Colorado and JoLeigh Keleshian of Wallington, New Jersey. Joan is also survived by her grandchildren; Samantha and Walker McElwain, children of Michael and Brooks, Jessica and Megan Hayes, children of Kelli and Peter, and Christopher and Charlotte, children of JoLeigh. She is also survived by her great grandchild, Dylan, son of Jessica.
