John Laverenz

Longtime Burlington, Colorado resident John Henry Laverenz, age 71, died Thursday September 3, 2009 at Presbyterian St. Luke’s Hospital in Denver, Colorado. John was born on February 22, 1938 in Hiawatha, Kansas to John Martin and Anna (Delzeit) Laverenz. On August 6, 1958, John was united in marriage to Esther Weber at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Oakley, Kansas. They moved to Burlington in 1965. He was a member of the St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Burlington, Colorado and was a mechanic at McArthur’s Implement in Burlington for 30 years. He is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters Loretta Mazenec and Ruthanna Falk. Surviving family members are his wife Esther of Burlington, Colorado; one daughter Darla Laverenz of Burlington, Colorado; three sons Marty and his wife Beth of Centennial, Colorado, Duane of Burlington, Colorado, and Darrin and wife Peggy of Strasburg, Colorado; ten grandchildren, Shane, Abby and Jamee Laverenz, Mason, Mike and Cassandra Spalding, Colton Laverenz, Crystal, Casey and Chad Pace. John is also survived by one sister Rosie Bremenkamp of Colby, Kansas. Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at 10 a.m. CT at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Colby, Kansas with Reverend Dana Clark officiating. Burial will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Colby, Kansas. Visitation will be Monday September 7, 2009 from 6-8 p.m. MT at the St. Catherine’s Catholic Church, Burlington, Colorado with a Rosary beginning at 7 p.m. Memorials may be made to the John H. Laverenz memorial fund and may be left at the First National Bank of Burlington, Colorado. Friends may send condolences and sign John’s register book at www.lovefuneralhomes.com.
