Joyce Deines Noakes was born October 26, 1942 in Hays, Kansas the oldest of five children born to Hubert and Esther Deines. She was raised on the farm which taught her good work ethics, milking cows, cooking and all the chores related to living on the farm. Joyce started school in a one room school house and graduated eighth grade from a one room country school. She felt privileged to speak both German and English at the same time growing up. In 1957 the family moved to Flagler, Colorado. Joyce graduated from High School and two weeks later went to Denver to attend Central Business College. She went to work at Mountain Bell Telephone in Limon, Colorado. Joyce met Duane Noakes and they were married in 1963. They had three children; Roger, Brian and Corrie. Duane passed away in 1974. She enjoyed reading, working crossword puzzles, cooking and trying new recipes. Joyce enjoyed trips to the Casino with friends; Verl and Peggy McElwain. She later worked part-time and spending time with grandchildren; Duane and Ellisa. She always said they were the two best assets she accumulated in her life. Joyce enjoyed almost daily phone visits and trips to the city with her friend, Marge Dunaway, who she always said was good for a laugh. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; Hubert and Esther, and her husband, Duane Noakes. She is survived by son Roger and his wife Joy Noakes of Genoa, Colorado, son Brian Noakes of Limon, Colorado and daughter Corrie Noakes of Englewood, Colorado, and grandchildren; Duane and Ellisa. Joyce is also survived by brothers; John Deines of Hays, Kansas and Charles Deines of Hays Kansas and sister, Pat Jones of Pond Creek, Oklahoma, sister, Erna Pasman of Oxford, Kansas and numerous nieces and nephews.
