Joyce Ollene Rose

On September 6, 2024, Joyce Ollene Rose passed away peacefully at age 90 after several ordeals with heart failure.

Joyce was born January 14, 1934, in Butler County Kentucky, to her parents Roe Banyon Casey and Mae Casey (Renfrow). The oldest of four children, she and her siblings, Devoice Koepen, Royce Casey, and Janice Jones were raised by their grandfather, Owen Renfrow.

She married her first love, Bob Blackaby, in October 1949. He had established a career in the US Air Force, and they lived in multiple stateside places during his enlistment. There were four children born to their union; Carol Blackaby (Pinneke), Cathe Blackaby (Campbell), Rob Blackaby, and Dorothy Blackaby (Oliviera). Bob predeceased her in June of 1981.

While working at Stapleton Airport in Denver, CO, she met Gary Rose, and they married in August 1983. His career as a commercial airline mechanic took them to many places, meeting and making friends across the USA.

Joyce cared deeply for family and friends and loved potlucks and get-togethers. She willingly gave of her time with elderly widows and voluntarily gave them perms as they needed. Her passion was working in her yard and garden. She took pride in keeping it looking attractive, trimmed and weed free. She had a fun sense of humor and enjoyed laughing with friends and cutting up with her grand kids. Joyce was not afraid of hard work and held a variety of jobs during her life.

Joyce is survived by her husband, Gary Rose, and her four children. She is also survived by grandchildren; Janel Jackson (Pinneke), Dale Pinneke, Patrice Connolly (Nicholas), Dan Nicholas, R.J. Blackaby, Courtney Ross (Horton), Bethany Cole (Horton), Tatiane Benicio (Oliveira), Eric Oliveira, Brenda Oliveira, Mercy Oliveira and twelve great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Cremation and no services will be held.
