Katherine Kinkade

View Video Tribute Katherine Virginia (Kelly) Kinkade was born November 22, 1922 to Ruth M. (Warren) and Thomas Charles Kelly in Colorado Springs, CO. Katherine departed this life September 10, 2006 at North Valley Hospital in Thornton, CO after a brief illness. Katherine grew up southeast of Calhan and graduated from Calhan High School in 1940. She graduated from Colorado State College in Greeley now UNC in 1962 and became a longtime teacher at Limon Elementary teaching 3rd and 5th grade up to her retirement in 1983. Katherine became an honorary member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority in 2003. She married Ralph Louis Kinkade on December 1, 1945 in Raton, New Mexico and to this union two children were born; Katherine Yvonne Kinkade and Roberta Louise (Kinkade) Mauck. She is survived by a great-aunt, Hannibel Cass of Colorado Springs, CO, two sister-in-laws, Doris (Kinkade) Chess, Mary (Hickle) Kinkade, both of Colorado Springs, CO, Daughters Yvonne Kinkade of Mead, CO, and Roberta (Larry) Mauck of Loveland, CO. Four grandsons, Brett Cirbo of Longmont, CO Ralph Mauck of Loveland, CO, Landon Mauck of Longmont, CO Christopher Mauck of Mead, CO. A host of nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends. Katherine enjoyed a multitude of hobbies; sewing, painting, gardening, reading and volunteering. She was a Sunday School teacher for many years and was active in starting the Limon Senior Center. Katherine loved to travel which was quiet extensive to include Europe, Australia, all 50 states, Korea and Israel. Funeral services for Katherine were held Thursday, September 14, 2006 at 1:00 P.M. at the First United Methodist Church in Limon, CO with Reverend Tom Wheeler officiating. Beth Craig played songs “You are the Wind Beneath My Wings� and Amazing Grace�, sung by Tom and Sue Anderson. Pallbearers were Benny Stoval, Brett Cirbo, Larry Mauck, Ralph Mauck, Landon Mauck, Christopher Mauck. Interment followed the service at Pershing Memorial Cemetery in Limon, CO.
