Kathleen Therese Murrow, Kathie to all who loved her, was born August 17, 1954 to Frank & Dorothy Skrzynecki in Chicago, Illinois. Following a valiant two-and-a-half year battle with cancer, she passed peacefully from this life to her eternal home on August 9, 2021.
She was 66.
Kathie spent her childhood in Illinois surrounded by siblings, cousins, and her extended Polish family members. She graduated from Antioch High School in 1972 and went on to receive an Associate’s degree in computer programming from Lake County Community College. In 1976 she moved to Colorado after she visited on a ski trip and fell in love with the mountains.
On May 17, 1986, Kathie married the love of her life Terry Murrow in Colorado Springs, Colo.
Her greatest joys are their daughters —Jennifer, Sarah, and Stephanie. They lived there together for 28 years where she spent her time involed in their church, the girls’ schools and extracurricular activities, and volunteering in many community organizations. The family also enjoyed many road trips and camping in their pop-up camper.
Kathie loved adventure and she loved to serve others. In 2014, Kathie and Terry sold their home in Colorado Springs and purchased an RV and began a true American highway adventure. Kathie and Terry spent time working in campgrounds, including Yellowstone National Park, volunteering, and spending time with family across the country before finally settling in Flagler, Colo. Kathie quickly became involved in many aspects of small-town life and loved being an active part of the community.
Kathie is survived by her best friend and husband of 35 years, Terry, daughters Jennifer Endres-Serrao (Raymond), Sarah Bledsoe (Wil) and Stephanie Nelson (Daniel) and her most precious gifts — her grandchildren, Alina, Xalin, Elijah, Hayley, Josie and Liam. She is also survived by her mother, Dorothy and siblings, Cindy, Ginny, Chris, and Lisa. She is preceded in death by her father, Frank.
A celebration of Kathie’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m on Friday, August 13, 2021 at First Congregational Church in Flagler, Colo.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Kathie’s honor to the Triple Negative Breast Cancer Foundation.
