Kenneth was born March 23, 1922 in Lerado, Kansas, at the family home to Bessie Holmes Mauck and Philip Alvis Mauck. He graduated from Langdon High School in 1940 and worked on the family farm until 1949.
On October 6, 1946, he was united in marriage to Argle Jeanette Schmidt in Turon, Kansas. They were married for sixty-five years and had two children, Nancy and Dale.
Kenneth and Argle moved to north of Limon, Colorado in March of 1949 where they farmed and ranched for over sixty years with his brother, Kenton, and his wife Chris. His son, Dale with his wife, Claudia, moved to the farm in 1974 and joined Kenneth and Kenton in working on the farm. Kenneth loved farming and even after he retired was always helping out and never missed a wheat harvest until about four years ago.
Kenneth was elected to the Colorado Wheat Advisory Committee in 1968 and went on to be elected president of the Colorado Association of Wheat Growers in 1976. He spent many years working with the Wheat Growers and he and Argle had lots of opportunities for travel to different states and different countries. They went to Hawaii, Germany, and Russia to learn about wheat growing, and Kenneth also went to Africa. He met with President Jimmy Carter and was invited to his inauguration in 1977.
For thirty-one years, Kenneth and Argle enjoyed immensely the winters they spent in Apache Junction, Arizona. Summers were then spent in Colorado enjoying their grandchildren and helping on the farm.
