We lost our beloved Krystal Marie Kopang on March 18, 2023. She is survived by her mother and father, Craig and Patti Kopang; her four siblings: Amanda Kopang, Marie Simons, Casey Kopang, and Quinton Kopang; her brothers-in-law, Ryan Simons and Peter Fager; her nieces and nephew, Cooper, Blake, Sutton and Maisen Simons; her partner of five years, Yaphet Bell, her ex-husband Eric Blase and her fluorescent fish. She is preceded in death by her nephew Trevor Powell.
Krystal was born on January 28th, 1986 in Northglenn, Colorado. She graduated from Ashe County High School in 2004 and completed her Associate's Degree in Medical Billing and Coding in 2014.
Krystal was a passionate and loyal friend, and could be found at any gathering where there would be good friends and a good time. These are some of the things we will miss most with Krystal’s passing:
• Her devotion to the Denver Broncos, which she shared with her brother Quinton.
• She was incredibly witty with a cutting sense of humor, which complemented Casey’s sarcastic bent.
• Her love of decorating and swapping holiday photos with Marie.
• Amanda shared her love of diamond paintings and making beautiful art one tiny, painstaking piece at a time.
She loved the band Sublime, ska, and reggae music. Her love of orange dominated her wardrobe and her decor. She enjoyed Ethiopian food and some of the finer foods in life, although at the same time she could be the pickiest eater you ever met, picking undesirables off of her pizzas and salads, and drenching them in ranch instead. She would pass her time assembling puzzles and doing little arts and crafts, in addition to being a hard and honest worker. She could watch TV, do homework, and curl her hair at the same time. She was a fierce competitor, especially on the soccer field. You could find her saying “If you’re a bird, I’m a bird,” from her favorite movie The Notebook.
With Krystal’s fierce loyalty, she shared her life with many wonderful people. Yaphet and Krystal were celebrating five years and planned to spend the rest of their lives together. She deeply loved her nieces and nephew as well.
She will be missed by so many, resting in peace and sublime joy.
Her funeral services will be held at Our Lady of the Plains Catholic Church in Byers, CO on Wednesday, March 29th, beginning at 10:30am with a rosary service, funeral mass at 11:00am, and a burial at Mountview Cemetery in Bennett, CO to follow.
