Larry D. Eastin was born August 22, 1943 in Burlington, Colorado, the fifth of eight children born to Walter R. and Minnie (Anderson) Eastin. He passed away on June 2, 2018 at the age of 74.
Larry attended school in Vona, Colorado and graduated from there in 1962. Larry worked hourly for CDOT after high school and later worked for Blue Bird Rental and Equipment Company in Denver before going back to CDOT in 1965. He worked there for 33 years before retiring in 1998. In the 33 years he worked for CDOT, he worked in Seibert, Denver, Las Animas, and Arriba. In 1971, he resigned for awhile and he and Jean operated a grocery store in Vona, but soon discovered that CDOT was better and returned to work there.
Larry met his future wife Jean Sterrett in Seibert, Colorado in 1965 and they were married on March 4, 1966 in Vona, Colorado. They celebrated fifty two wonderful years of marriage. To this union three children were born: Pamela Marie on October 25, 1967; Tanya Sue on June 27, 1969; and Michael Dale on March 11, 1971. In 1976, the family moved to Arriba, Colorado where they have spent the last fourty two years.
After retirement, Larry and Jean enjoyed traveling, camping, gardening, golfing, and attending activities that the grandchildren were involved in. They also drove an American Courier Route for about three years. Larry also enjoyed woodworking.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Minnie Eastin, stepmother Clara Eastin, daughter Pamela Crisp, sister Colleen Ford, and three sisters-in-law Judy Eastin, Jeanne Eastin, and Barb Eastin, and brothers-in-law Merl Ford and Bud Horton.
Larry is survived by his wife Jean of Arriba, Colorado; daughter Tanya Seymour of Hugo, Colorado; son Michael (Marilyn) of Platteville, Colorado; and son-in-law Chad Crisp of Flagler, Colorado; grandchildren Jamie Newby (Brett) of Evans, Colorado, Philip Witt (Leslie) of Seibert, Colorado, Kaylee Fox of Hugo, Colorado, Caitlyn Crisp of Flagler, Colorado, Adam Eagleton (Michelle) of Kersey, Colorado, Suzi Dennis (Mark) of Frederick, Colorado; great grandchildren Sami Carlson, Taylor Eagleton, Joshua Eagleton, Porter Witt; brothers Robert, Ronnie, Bill, Jerry (Karen) and sisters Donna Horton and Patty Hickman (Dennis). He also had numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions are suggested in Larry's name to the First Congregational Church of Arriba.
