Leland Ezra Witzel, passed away on February 14, 2023. Leland was born on October 2nd, 1944 to Ezra Witzel and Freda (Schock) Witzel.
Leland (Sonny) grew up on a farm in Colorado where he most enjoyed hunting with his German Shepherd Brown. Leland had many great life adventures. He attended school close to his home in a little country schoolhouse. He married Peggy Williams and they started a family together. Leland farmed with his dad for many years and continued to farm throughout his life.
He served in the National Guard where he was noted for his incredible mechanic and shooting skills. Leland enjoyed shooting and hunting throughout his life and was an incredible marksman and gunsmith. He excelled in all that he decided to do. He had incredible machine and fabrication skills fabricating parts and fixing his own equipment. He enjoyed dirt work with his big earth moving equipment and had many projects and dreams involving it. He was noted for his generosity and family orientation in his life.
He loved big and lived big. Up until the day he died his mind was filled with incredible inventions, ideas and stories. Before he passed he welcomed the newest addition to his family his first great grandson Monte Heizenrader. He was very excited about him and loved him very much.
Leland is preceded in death by his wife Peggy and children Leland Jr., Michael, Timothy, Lance and Adrienne; parents, Ezra and Freda and sisters, Marilyn Garcia , Darlene Witzel and Patty Witzel. He is survived by his daughters, Chandra Witzel and Natasha Mueller, son in law James Mueller, grandchildren Elizabeth Heizenrader and William Mueller and great grandson Monte Heizenrader.
Funeral Services for Leland will be held at 11 AM, Monday February 27th, 2023 at Love Funeral Home in Burlington, CO. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Burlington, CO.
