Leola Isom

Longtime Burlington resident, Leola C. Isom passed away on April 18, 2007 at the Kit Carson County Hospital at the age of 85. Leola was born on February 10, 1922 in Mayflower, Arkansas to Gus and Nancy (Coker) Isom. Leola was united in marriage to Leo E. Klotzbach on September 4, 1938 in Conway, Arkansas. To this union five children were born. In November of 1938, Leola and Leo moved back to the Klotzbach farm southwest of Stratton, where they farmed until January of 1961. From 1967 until 1997, Leola worked as a cook for the Kit Carson County Memorial Hospital and the Grace Manor. After retiring in 1997, she enjoyed spending time in her yard, cooking for family and traveling around the country to see her grandchildren. Leola is preceded in death by her husband, Leo E. Klotzbach, her parents, Gus and Nancy Isom, four infant children and one grandson. She is survived by daughter Lolita Ramos, grandchildren Don Ramos and family of Mount Vernon, Washington, Randlyn Ramos of Burlington, Colorado, Dr. Richard and wife Brenda Ramos of Stratton, Colorado, Michael and wife Cyndi Ramos of Bridgeville, Delaware, Dr. James and wife Judy Ramos of Burlington, Washington, Dr. Ron Ramos of Burlington, Washington and Daniel and wife Sondra Ramos of Windsor, Colorado. She is also survived by thirteen great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren; and two cousins Coy Hively and his wife Faye of North Little Rock, Arkansas and Thomas I. Coker of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Funeral services for Leola were held on Monday, April 23, 2007 at 10:00 AM at the St. Catherine’s Catholic Church with Father Ernie Bond officiating. Burial followed at the Claremont Cemetery, Stratton, Colorado. Memorials may be made in Leola’s name to the St. Catherine’s Catholic Church and may be left at the Bank of the West, Burlington, Colorado.
