Linda Sue Calhoun

Linda Sue Stoll was born October 1, 1950, in Colby, Kansas, to Lavern and Lois Stoll of Oakley, Kansas. She was the third child of a family of four children. They grew up on a family wheat farm South of Oakley. She went to school in Monument, KS, and then graduated from Oakley High School in 1968. She was involved in volleyball and loved cheerleading for the teams. Linda grew up attending the Country Chapel Church near Oakley. She later professed her faith in Jesus Christ and was baptized at Mt. Tabor Baptist Church, Byers, CO. 

In 1970, she was united in marriage to Kerry Ebert of Byers, CO. To this union was born 2 sons, Kres David and Kasey Tee. During the boys’ early years, Linda enjoyed farm life with them, feeding bottle calves, harvesting wheat, and running in the creek bottom while enjoying the outdoors. She enjoyed playing recreational softball and spending time with friends and family over coffee and cards. Special times involved family trips camping in the Colorado mountains and waterskiing at Jackson Lake. As the kids grew and participated in sports and school activities, Linda was their #1 fan. This carried through to her grandchildren as well. She was often on the sidelines with her green and white bulldog shirt, yelling her heart out.

In January of 2010, Linda married Harold Calhoun in Las Vegas, NV. Together they enjoyed riding horses while team penning, and cruising to beautiful destinations. 

Christmas time was a high priority for Linda. She loved decorating and baking and last-minute shopping for her kids and grandkids. Her smile showed how much she enjoyed giving gifts and sharing time with those around her.

Family was Linda’s biggest pride and joy. You could always find Linda at school sporting events, in the kitchen cooking or playing dress-up and games with her beloved grandkids. Extended family reunions were a very special time. She cherished and talked about these times and her grandchildren will always remember “Grandma”.

Preceding Linda in death were her parents, Lavern and Lois Stoll; her brother, David Stoll; and her granddaughter, Tessa Ebert. Surviving her are her sons and grandchildren: Kres Ebert (Julie) and children, Krayton Ebert and Meghan Ebert, all of Byers, CO; and Kasey Ebert (Angie) and children, Matthew Kunish, Savannah Armknecht, and Parker Ebert, all of Byers, CO; two sisters: Sylvia Stoll of Friendswood, TX; and Shirley Swihart (Bruce) of St. Francis, KS; two aunts and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Many friends will miss her sweet smile. 

Services will be held on Friday, October 18, 2024, at the Mt. Tabor Baptist Church Byers, CO, at 10:30am MT. Burial at the Byers Cemetery following the service.
